AEVTSA Holds Fourth Knowledge Empowerment Session on International EV Standards and Regulations

The Electric Vehicle Technologies Association held the fourth session of its “EV Knowledge Empowerment Series” on August 5, 2026, titled “International Standards and Regulations for Electric Vehicles: Infrastructure, Safety, and Communication Protocols.” The session was presented by Eng. Raed Al-Qashqari, a Mechanical Engineer, Executive Director, and researcher in electric vehicle policy and safety. The session covered key international regulations and standards governing electric vehicles and the relevant regulatory organizations, battery safety requirements and operational regulations, as well as charging infrastructure and global charging standards. It also addressed communication protocols, cybersecurity, smart-grid integration, future applications, and emerging trends in electric vehicle technologies. The session aimed to familiarize participants with major international EV regulations and standards, explain safety requirements for batteries and charging systems, distinguish between charging levels and global connector standards, and introduce modern communication protocols and their role in safe and intelligent operation. The event attracted 87 participants from diverse backgrounds, including engineers, students, interested professionals, government-sector representatives, technicians, and investors, with participation from different regions of Saudi Arabia as well as from outside the Kingdom. This session forms part of the Association’s ongoing efforts to enhance specialized knowledge of international EV standards and regulations and empower professionals and interested communities to understand the regulatory, technical, and technological requirements necessary to support a safe, advanced, and sustainable electric mobility ecosystem.
